After high school I attended the University of Kansas, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in '65 and an MBA in '67. My first job after college was with Westinghouse at the Bettis Atomic Power Lab in West Mifflin, PA, as a systems analyst. In '69 I moved to Dallas taking a job with Recognition Equipment, a manufacturer of optical character reading equipment, thus, beginning my career in software. After traveling almost weekly for 2 ½ years to New York City I took a software engineering position with Danray Division of Northern Telecom. In 1982 I began a 20-year career with DSC Communications Corporation where I developed man- machine interfaces for DSC's line of tandem telephony switches, programming primarily in assembly language. Alcatel purchased DSC in '89 and I continued working there on a voice over lP project until Alcatel sent it to Europe in '02. Since then I have worked part-time positions at FEMA during the hurricane season of '04 andKatrina in '05. After this I had a 6-month and later a 7-month contract at Raytheon, working in the Army Ground Sensor integration program.
Prior to my divorce I lived in Richardson, TX. Since then I have moved to Plano, TX. In 1994 I married Anne (Levine) Cohn. My stepdaughter, Karen, teaches special education in the Denver area. My oldest son, Joe, graduated from Texas Tech and works with SAP software for Corning Cable Systems in Keller, TX. He and his wife, Amy, live in Fort Worth and keep busy raising my 2 grandchildren, Emily (11) and Evan (8). My youngest son, Chris, graduated from MIT and then INSEAD in Singapore. He has been with Samsung in Seoul, Korea for the last 4 years working as a product strategist. Recently he resigned and moved to Singapore to find new employment.
Anne and I enjoy doing things in the Dallas area with friends. We traveled through NM, CO,UT, and AZ this June, seeing places like Pikes Peak, the Grand Cany n and Carlsbad Caverns Anne keeps up with 2 swimming groups and book clubs and I keep busy with various home projects. Earlier I wrote a NET computer program for a friend who sells CAD software for PC board design. |
