Thinking back on the years at Central and College High bring back a lot of memories. The first year we had a locker, combination locks, Mr. Littlefield, and Mr. Lee giving the announcements, girls' gym class, Y-teens after school, making friends with people you didn't know from grade school (Yea! Jefferson!), and the cafeteria or the "hamburger line". |

Then on to College High: getting a driver's license, football and basketball games, Peppers in their beanies, honking a special honk when you went to a friend's house, buying/selling/folding the pep ribbons on game days, all the dances during the holidays, Winston's Photography, the "poodle" hair cut, learning to play bridge, the Osage Theatre, prom and the "after- parties", the drive-in, going to Robbie's drive-in for a 7-Up with lots of ice (always a 7-Up because of the rumor of bugs), Pep assemblies, going to the little café behind the hospital, yearbooks, listening to that radio station that would dedicate songs, the teachers, some of which we really liked and those we would rather not remember, and, of course, Graduation. My Gosh, didn't we have a good time?
As for me, I went on to graduate from Oklahoma University, teach 1 year in Kansas City, get married, earned my PHT (Putting Husband Through) by teaching 2 years in Texas. We lived 7 years in western Oklahoma and had 2 great kids, Alexia and Dirk. In 1975 I moved to Tulsa with my kids and worked as an office manager in dental offices. In 1978 I married a wonderful man, Milton Schmidt, and we have been married 32 years this year. We blended our families and I gained 3 step-daughters and 1 step-son. We have 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grand daughters. I retired in 2009 and we are living in Grove on Grand Lake. Come see us sometime. |
