Lindsley "Lindy" Merrill
I graduated with B.S. in Political Science, with an emphasis in International Relations and a minor in Library Science from OSU. My next educational/career goals were changed when I married Joe Hartman. I always thought I would live in a city but life presented a twist in that marrying a forester changed that view. Elkhart, population 2,200, is the largest town I have lived in for the past 46 years. The smallest was Walden, CO (900 at the time). Every place we lived had gorgeous scenery and special friends. My work history included many positions: substitute teaching, working in a medical office, law office, for a land and mineral title company and at the Vail, CO Public Library.

In thinking about teachers at Col-Hi I was reminded again of how many quality teachers we had - a good hindsight. I learned to value Latin and other languages, English Lit and math. Having Mrs. Ellsworth for Latin helped me great deal with other languages. Miss Fender gave such a foundation in math that I did not open a book in college algebra and got a good grade. Most feared class was Miss Fender's Calculus and Trigonometry - passing them was a miracle. A goal I have yet to finish is learning to play the guitar.

Years after high school I learned to my surprise that there was very little my mom did not know about my activities. Life's lessons: Live by faith. Each day make choices so that at the end of the day regrets are few. Laughter is the best medicine.
