He married Ruth Burnett in May, 1979 and they made their home here since that time. Martinez established the Joe Martinez Concrete Construction Company in 1981. He continued his activity here until his illness March 17, 1985 and he was admitted to the hospital April 2. He transferred to St. Francis in Tulsa on April 4. He and his wife were members of the Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors include his Wife, Ruth of the home; two sons, Joseph Allen Martinez and Jon Martinez, both of Las Vegas, NV; two step-sons, Russel Todd Burnett of the home and Rodney Baughn Burnett, Dewey; three sisters, Mrs. Connie Vargas, Chicago, IL, Mrs. Stella Payton and Mrs. Pearl Sue Coshatt, both of Houston, TX , brother Raymond Martinez, Chicago, IL and Frank Martinez, Jr., Albuquerque NM; and his mother Lorenza Perez and step-father Ignoco Perez of Bartlesville.
