My all time favorite teachers of Bartlesville school days were from Central Junior High. Mr. Jules Bourquin (Band) taught me the "5 R's", which included being at the Right place and the Right time with the Right equipment with the Right preparation and the Right attitude. Miss Ora Lee Culp (Civics) was to be feared if you didn't follow Mr. Bourquin's 5 R's in her class. She was outstanding!!! I wish today's students were better taught about the blessings of freedom and the corresponding need for prudence and personal discipline, as well as a proper understanding and respect for our founding fathers, the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the unique and truly exceptional history of the U.S. of A.
My interests in high school turned to pre-med so I headed to Westminster College in Fulton, MO. From there I went to Vanderbilt Medical School in Nashville, where my wife of 47 years, Stacey, and I have lived since my retirement 4 years ago. We lived 36 years in New Orleans, where I completed my formal medical training in Diagnostic Radiology and then did private practice in a large suburban community hospital. Life in New Orleans was good until Katrina. Nashville is our new home. We enjoy living next door to our daughter, Stephanie, and son-in-law, both Pediatricians, and their 4 young children, aged 2-8. Our other 2 grandsons, ages 4 and 5, live in St. Louis with their mom and dad, our son Mark. They are the light of our lives!!

I remember several of my high school best friends fondly but sadly: Clint Cowan, Mike McCrory, and Richard Perkins - lives cut short - reminding me how very thankful we need to be for good friends and for each day God gives.
