I was born in Odessa,TX and grew up in Bartlesville. My husband, Mark (class of '59) and I were high school sweethearts. I went to the University of Kansas. I transferred to OSU where I earned a degree in Elementary Education. After we graduated we moved to Tulsa. I taught 1st grade for a while and also worked as a caseworker for the Child Welfare Department. Somewhere in there we began collecting antiques which has been a lifelong love. We did a stint in the Air Force, lived in Corvallis, OR and Tacoma, WA, and a year in the middle of that Mark served in Viet Nam.

Our 2 daughters, Kristy and Katy were born in the Northwest. After the service we returned to Tulsa and then on to Bartlesville with Phillips Petroleum where I was in Service League, church, PTA, etc.. We then moved to Stavanger, Norway for 5 years where we did lots of travel. One of the neatest things was go to tea with the American Ambassador’s wife at their home in Oslo. I did learn to speak Norwegian, but unfortunately it is not a language used much here, then on too Houston where I kept up with our teenagers and got involved in the local Huumane Society. Then we moved to Borger, TX where I started a Humane Society. |

We planned a wedding for our daughter then on to Houston, again working with the Humane Society. Another wedding surfaced.. Finally after moving so much, not living anywhere long, we had to decide where we wanted to retire. Past experiences drew us to Colorado after Mark retired and we built a house. Mark got bored and went back to work and I got involved with grandkids, Humane Society and PEO along with many physical sports like hiking, etc. We have 2 grandcchildren who live nearby and 4 grandchildren in Miidland, TX. We also have 2 West Highland Terriers. As you can see there are a couple of common threads running throughout this story, my love for my family, home, dogs and the welfare of all animals. |
