James William (Bill) Davis
I am a mental health therapist and own Turning Point Professional Counseling Services in Hays, KS, with outreach offices in Quinter and Colby, KS. Our offices employ 9 other therapists at the present time, and we do a general mental health practice in Western Kansas, including psychological testing and evaluation. I am a Ph.D. level therapist and have been in practice for the past 19 years. I am an avid pilot and currently hold a private license. I have a small hangar on the private grass airstrip that houses my DH82 DeHavilland Tiger Moth Biplane (which is a replica) and a RANS S-4 Coyote light aircraft. I built the Tiger Moth over a 6 year period of time and am planning to start construction of another biplane this fall, a full scale Sopwith S.E. 5a WW1 British fighter. Hopefully, I can get it finished and flying in less than 6 years!!!!! I have been married to my lovely wife, Ruby Jane, for 46 years; have 1 child, James Tyler "Ty", age 41 and "still hoping" for some grandchildren.
Some of my memories include: Favorite teacher: "Father" Rickets. He was a kind person who had a passion and interest in young people's education. He was also my golf coach for 4 years and I was able to enjoy seeing his humor and guidance outside the classroom as well. His favorite expression to our Sophomore Social Studies class (1957) was "study harder........Sputnik is flying up there somewhere!"

Teacher I feared: Probably Ms. Sprayberry in grade school at Jane Phillips; she slammed a door on Dean Mandelbaum and me one time without a thought of possible brain damage or future vision problems!?!?!?!
Can't think of a teacher at Col-Hi that I feared, although Ms. Fender "lived in that realm" at times!!!!!

Something I've done since high school that no one would believe: It would probably be to have reached the educational level I eventually did!!!! I was not a particularly 'dedicated' student in high

school. Or that I built a biplane in my garage, maybe!!! Goal yet to be accompliished: I want to fly the biplane around North America for a year or so and then write about my experience. If I can drag Grover with me for a part of it, that would be even better!!!

Classmates I hope show up: That's certainly a loaded question!!! I want to see all the people of the Class of '60, of course!! I've known Johnny Balenko probably the longest and would love to see him again, but our class has always been close and friendly so I look forward to getting to see them all. When we've grown up with and known people for more than 50 years, they are all special in our lives; they've helped plan a part in defining who we've become, right?
