I obtained my education after Col-Hi from Fresno City College in 1970 with an Associate of Arts Degree in General Education, and at California State University, Fresno in 1974 with a B.S. in Criminology and then San Joaquin College of Law - one year of law studies.
From 1960-'65, I was in the U.S. Navy stationed in Long Beach, CA with security clearance for a special Navy project. From 1965-'69, I worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler and distributor.

From 1969-79, I became a police officer in the Criminal Justice System in Fresno, CA and became the first African-American assigned to motorcycle patrol in the Fresno Police Department. From 1979-'83, I became a Private Investigator providing services to defense attorneys as well as lab research. From 1983-'88, I became an Assistant Activity Director for Edison High School in Fresno. I was also head coach for the freshman football team and the girl's softball team going on to varsity later.
From 1988-'92 I was hired as Parole Agent 1 then advanced to Narcotics Task Force in a liaison position further enhancing my knowledge of the Criminal Justice System. From 1992-'94, I transferred to Corcoran State Prison as a Correctional Counselor thus obtaining institutional experience. I received a letter of commendation for effective writing by the Associate Warden of that facility, From 1994-'99, I became a Parole Agent assigned to a felon and Civil Addict caseload, a position primarily helping with the safety of the community assisting paroles in a successful reintegration into the community. From Feb. 1999 to July 1999, I was the Quality Control Coordinator for the Corcoran State Prison in Corcoran, CA. monitoring the work product of the correctional counselor. From 1999-'01, I became the Litigation Coordinator for that prison where I identified issues of recurring litigation for possible action.
From 2001 to present I have been a chauffeur with the Touch of Class Limousine Service in Madera, CA where I operate corporate sedans, and 10, 16 and 20 passenger limousines. This position requires a Class B Commercial License.
During all this working and moving around I married my wife, Sherry, and we have 4 children, Lenora (47), William (45), Latanya (43), and Angela (37) who have provided us with 10 grandchildren ranging from 15-23 years old and 4 great-grandchildren ranging from 1-4 years old. |
